Department Chair for Trade and Industrial Education, Alan Heck will give a tour of the Applied Technology Innovations Center (ATIC).
The 38,000 sq ft Applied Technology and Innovation Center (ATIC) creates a highly flexible learning environment specifically focused on 21st century job training skills. The facility includes a range of Career Technical Education (CTE) programs including Automation Engineering with mechatronics and robotics, Machining and Manufacturing (3-D prototyping and a 5-axis CNC machine), Environmental Technology (solar, wind, water, and biofuels) with a turbine climbing practice tower, HVAC Technology, Drafting Technology (cad, technical, and architectural drawing), Industrial Systems Maintenance Technology, and Food Processing Technology. These programs offer multiple work-based learning opportunities and job enhancement and advancement training for our region. Workforce Development uses the building for a variety of short-term industry trainings and certifications, from OSHA to forklift.
**During the Summer Conference, there is a Manufacturing Career Academy underway in which students spend 1 day each in 5 different CTE programs, to expose them to the variety and excite them about potential career pathways in technical fields. During the tour, visitors will be able to see the hands-on activities and projects those students are completing.
